Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has confirmed rumours that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger display sizes. In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter, Gurman corroborated other reports about Apple‘s plan to increase the size of its two “Pro” iPhone models.
The reports claim that Apple will increase from 6.1- and 6.7 inches by “a couple of tenths of an inch diagonally”. The new display sizes would be the largest ever for the iPhone.
The news was shared on Weibo, stating they have industry insider information. The source also agrees with earlier reports of an increase in display size for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. As mentioned earlier, the iPhone 15 Pro models will feature the same display size as the current models but the bezels would be greatly shrunk down. We have previously shown the dummy units of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The slimmed-down bezels would give the devices a brand-new look as far as the front of the device is concerned.
It is now being reported that the increased display size of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro will make room within the device which could be used for various purposes. For instance, Apple could house bigger sensors and fit a bigger battery.
This year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is exclusively expected to feature a periscope lens. The standard model will pack the same sensor but improved camera quality. It could be true that the iPhone 15 Pro Max has extra space inside the device which makes room for the periscope lens. Henceforth, Apple could streamline its iPhone 16 Pro models next year with a periscope lens. As for the scale of improvement, the iPhone 16 Pro Max features a 1/1.14-inch camera sensor compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 1/1.28-inch sensor.
Talking about the 16 series camera could feature one of the best cameras on a smartphone. Samsung’s latest flagship, Galaxy S23 Ultra features 10x optical zoom in contrast to Apple’s speculated 5x to 6x zoom in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max might feature 10x Optical or more. This could also make them more competitive with other high-end smartphones on the market.
